SycoTec develops new type of tool spindle
SycoTec GmbH & Co. KG, Leutkirch, has developed the first 100 percent autonomously functioning HF spindle for integration in the standard tool holder, the company says. The new tool spindle contains all necessary components, it said: Motor spindle, frequency converter and supply by battery pack. This means it can be used for high-speed machining in any CNC machine, without any conversion work and with intuitive operation. The starting point for the development was the master’s thesis on “High-speed machining on machining centers” by Valentin Graf, senior development engineer at SycoTec, who had initially experimented with gearboxes and double-switched motors before coming up with the current battery solution.
